University Neighborhood Partners and the A. Ray Olpin University Union at the University of Utah are pleased to share this video about the winner of the Our CASA and Union Student Leader Scholarship. The award is given to a student at West High School who is actively engaged in community. Elizabeth Estrella-Murillo, this year’s winner, is a recent west high graduate going to the University this fall. She will receive $5,000, as well as an offer of a job at the Union, which comes with free books for her classes.
This scholarship is provided through a partnership between the A. Ray Olpin University Union, the West High Our CASA, and University Neighborhood Partners.
The Our CASA (Communities Aspiring, Succeeding, and Achieving) College Lounge Network is a system of higher education-themed spaces at school and community sites across Salt Lake’s
west side. The lounges are designed to bridge school and community, offering space for programming run by parents, schools, youth, higher education institutions, and community partners. Our CASA rooms are currently housed in partnership with six Salt Lake City sites. The network is designed to create school cultures that promote access to higher education.
